Sweet baby Sand on a beach.

I'm so proud of her! It's a great pleasure to see our baby walking in the sand, falling and laughing, watching the waves, the other babies. It's a new world for her, fascinating and I guess, a little scary. But she's like Dora, exploring our favorite beach!

Qwirkle!

Players organize their individual tiles by similar color or shape, then lay them down in lines. The object of the game is to complete as many linear "Qwirkles" as possible: six tiles of the same color (but different shapes) or six tiles of the same shape (but different colors). A tile cannot be repeated in a Qwirkle, and this is the strategic complication which makes the game more challenging for the younger ones. They may see a line of yellow and want to add to it, but they cannot place a yellow circle on the line if there is already one there.
My daughter had a fine time in the beginning of the game, and we played with open hands so we could help her. But once the board became more complicated with multiple rows and lines, she got confused and lost interest. Perhaps with a few more rounds she would understand the game better, but at the moment, she prefers Pictureka instead.
My husband and I loved the strategy involved with a game that seemed so simple and we played well into the night. There are ways to block the completion of a Qwirkle as well as ways to set up your next Qwirkle, and while matching colors and shapes seems fitting for pre-schoolers, the strategic thinking requires a more sophisticated player. Once there are several rows and lines on the board, some several tiles deep, it becomes an overwhelming task for young children to make correct moves, let alone strategic ones.
The age range on this game says 6 and up, although parents will probably enjoy the game more than the youngest players. But it's definitely worth the purchase.

From the good side of february.

It was StarCon, a great moment for John and I! Like all the next years, there was coolest dudes and also a pretty good number of our neighborhood!!! It's a bad time for our money, but Sand discover this part of our universe, I hope she love and became quickly a nerd-girl! So, painters was here, always masterful and impressive, Bobba funk was here to, and John try to defy him on a dance battle, but hey, it's bobba, he's to strong, even in modern dance! And you notice that in each SW convention, there was many girls who wear leia slave suit...

The Strange Case of Origami Yoda

What's up with Origami Yoda? Tommy, a normal boy in sixth-grade at McQuarrie Middle school, has a huge crush on a girl named Sara. She is a girl that goes to the same school as Tommy. But he has a bigger problem: Is the advice that Origami Yoda gives, real? Origami Yoda is a piece of paper folded into the shape of Yoda from Star Wars by Dwight who is Tommy's friend. Supposedly, Origami Yoda gives advice, but that advice is not always best. Dwight, his creator, also speaks for Yoda in a very poor Yoda voice imitation. Kellen, Harvey, Lance, Mike, and Quavondo are friends of Tommy who have also sought the advice of Yoda. This book tells the story of these friends and their experiences with asking Yoda for advice and trying to determine if that advice was right or wrong to follow.

One day Kellen was leaning over the sink for some soap, but when he leaned back there was a wet spot on his pants that looked like pee,but wasn't pee. He went to ask Lance to grab his jacket from their classroom, but it would take to long and both of them could not afford to be late. To Kellen's surprise out came Dwight from a stall with Yoda on his finger (gross). "Dwight" called Kellen "Can I please ask Origami Yoda something?". "Sure" replied Dwight". "Um... Origami Yoda I got my pants wet, not because i peed, but what should I do?" asked Kellen. "All of pants you must wet." Dwight said in his Yoda voice. So Kellen quickly splashed water all over his pants. When he got to class his teacher was surprised, but at least he wasn't late. Quavondo was called the "Cheeto Hog" and this next experience tells why and how he is no longer the "Cheeto Hog". It was the day of the field trip to the zoo and the kids were not aloud to get food from the concessions stands, but everyone was starving. All the kids including Quavondo saw a vending machine and thought the teacher never said we could not get food from the vending machine. Quavondo was first in line for a snack and right after he had pushed the button the teacher came over and said "No food from the vending machines!". "But I already pressed the button" cried Quavondo. "Oh fine Quavondo can get his snack, but no one else!". People yelled out things like "Hey, I want some!" or "That's not fair!". Quavondo got so overwelhmed he stuffed his mouth with cheetos and from that day on he was known as the "Cheeto Hog". One day at lunch when Quavondo was sick and tired of people calling him "Cheeto Hog" he went over to ask Dwight if he could talk to Yoda. Dwight said "No Cheeto Hog". "Please" Quavondo begged. "No". Then Dwight's hand shot up with Yoda on one finger."Cheetos for everyone you must buy" Dwight/Origami Yoda said. Then Dwight covered his mouth with his other hand. "Assembly during tomorrow." He managed to say through his hands. "Then cheetos give you must. Big bags they must be." Later that day Quavondo's brother dropped him off a the supermarket to buy the cheetos. The next day at the assembly Quavondo passed out all the cheetos. He did get caught by the principal, but he was no longer the "Cheeto Hog". Now for the big event (drumroll). One day at lunch Tommy was trying to get an answer from Origami Yoda, but all he was saying was"purple". Suddenly Tommy asked Yoda "Why can't you stop Dwight from being such a loser?". That made Dwight angry. Next Dwight pulled Origami Yoda of his finger and threw him in the trash. The next day Harvey came to school with his own Origami Yoda. Then Tommy asked Harvey's Yoda "Does Sara like me?". "Hates you she does," said Harvey's Yoda "Laughs at you with friends she does.". "Wrong Harvey is," said a screechy voice. "Likes you she does. Much very!". So the two Yodas had a bet, Tommy has to ask Sara to dance and if she says yes Dwight wins, but if she says no Harvey wins. Who do you think will win?

Taste of Home Comfort Food Diet Cookbook

The recipes I have tried are tasty, though I am surprised how many call for butter, salt and other ingredients that are usually no-nos. The recipes in the book seem to be exactly the same as the ones in Taste of Home: Everyday Light Meals, so don't be tempted to get them both (as I had). This book has an intro and appendix with worksheets and tips for weight loss, whereas the other book focuses on lightening up favorite recipes - but the recipes are exactly the same in both books. The recipes are organized differently: this book has them sorted by calorie count; whereas the Taste of Home: Everyday Light Meals book has them sorted by the categories you usually seen in a cookbook (appetizers, desserts, pasta dishes, etc).

Burning Lamp (An Arcane Society Novel) by Amanda Quick

If Griffin Winters, one of London’s most powerful crime lords, wasn’t already going mad, annoying social reformer Adelaide Pyne would certainly drive him crazy. Unfortunately for him, she possesses both the Burning Lamp and the ability to work its dreamlight energy. So if there is any hope of avoiding the “Winter’s curse,” he needs to cut a deal, and the sooner the better. Griffin has already achieved the second of his paranormal gifts, and with the arrival of his third talent comes total descent into madness. But he isn’t the only one who wants the Burning Lamp, and if he doesn’t find a way to convince the infuriatingly stubborn Adelaide that they need to join forces, both of them could end up dead. A gifted literary alchemist, Quick (Jayne Ann Krentz) continues to perfect her unique recipe for romance in the second installment in her captivating Dreamlight trilogy (Fired Up, 2010) by deftly matching a delightfully sharp-witted and sharp-tongued heroine with a deliciously dark and sexy hero. Quick neatly tempers her paranormal-flavored, danger-infused plot with just the right dash of acerbic humor, and the result is another 24-karat read from one of the genre’s best.

Tao wisdom

The Tao is above existence and non-existence.
Existence is for men who use words
But the Tao does not use words.
It is as silent as a flower.
Words come from the Tao -- the Tao produces words,
But it does not use them

Little Koi fish

Your shining beauty
mirrored in the cool water
So intriguing, as the waves
passed upon you
and your slend body

Your bright scales shimmering
with the sun's golden rays
reflecting upon the pond
as you swims around the damsels

Little Koi fish, little girl,
You're human, and moreover,
never feel the fear or the pain,
just relaxing, until the sun come down,
and the pond refreshing around you,
little koi fish
It's bad poetry for my lil' friend, Koi.
